Lust Have It June 2012

Lust Have It June edition! I was really looking forward to this as this is the first official Lust Have It pack after the switchover from GlossyBox to Lust Have It. Lust Have It used to send out same products for all subscribers. This month onwards, they’ve sent out packs according to the person’s age profile. Mine was the Fun and Flirty pack that came in a purple make up bag.

1. LonVitalite – 24K Active Golden Yulan Oil Facial Mask RRP 5 Sheets $59

First Impression: I’m a big fan of facial sheet mask. I’ve never heard of LonVitalite before, but judging from how much it costs for 5 sheets, it is quite a pricey mask to own. 24 K active gold, I wonder how it looks like.

2. LonVitalite – 24K Active Gold Full Eye Mask RRP 5 sheets $45

First Impression: Along with the facial mask 24k Active Gold series, I also got the Eye Mask. Never had I used an eye mask before, so I’m quite curious about how it would work on the skin

P.S. With both the LonVitalite Mask, there was a note saying that the product contains active ingredients that will be cooling, invigorating and stimulating on the skin. If you have sensitive skin, run the pack under warm water and this can balance the tingling sensation.

3. Batiste – Blush Dry Shampoo RRP $9.95

First Impression: I’ve always heard people saying a lot of good things about dry shampoo and how it is a god sent items for lazy people. However, I’ve never tried one before. This is quite a good size sample and I look forward to playing around with it. I’ve seen rather good reviews with the Batiste brand, so I’m quite happy to get my hands on this.

4. Bloom – Glitter Eyeliner RRP $14.95

First Impressions: My favourite item from this June pack. This glitter liner has micro glitter particles and is rather pretty in real life. The glitter liner I got is Stargazer which is a pretty midnight black colour with multi glitter. A very wearable glitter liner for a night out I must say.

5. Marc Jacobs – Daisy Eau So Fresh and Daisy RRP 75 ml $115 and 50 ml $90 respectively

I’ve known of these two perfumes for the longest time and I believe most people have too. Between the two perfumes, I prefer the Daisy Eau So Fresh more, as it is a very light and fresh(as the name suggest) . The bottles of both the perfumes and to die for. I think Marc Jacobs do really nice perfumes with packaging worthy to be displayed as an art piece. I think samples of perfumes like this is very handy. I always have one in my bag for emergency purposes.

Overall Impression: I’m pretty in between with this June pack. I like the glitter eyeliner. The dry shampoo is not an item I would get for myself as I’ve never tried anything like this before, thus, I look forward to trying the dry shampoo. With the facial mask and the eye mask, I don’t know how I feel about them yet. The fragrances are okay, but I would really prefer them to give maybe 2 of each perfume instead of 1(this is me being slightly greedy). Overall, it is an okay box,

I Depotted My Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Candlelight

Like many, I preferred the Too Faced Insurance packaging(squeezy tube) over the Urban Decay Primer Potion(Old version – with a doe foot applicator). However, recently I realised that even in the squeeze tube packaging, the Too Faced Shadow Insurance still had its cons. While I was doing my usual make up routine, I squeezed the tube of Shadow Insurance to get some of the product out, I found that some of the liquid was coming out from the bottom of the tube. Upon thorough inspection, I saw that there was an opening at the bottom of the tube.  That made me realised that my tube of Shadow Insurance was probably in contact with the air the whole time and the liquid inside might dry up overtime(that might be why the liquid in my Shadow Insurance was separated unless I shake it up every time I used it). So, like the title suggested,  I decided to “depot”(probably not the right word to use, since, it isn’t in a pot) my Shadow Insurance.

I found an old and empty pot of Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in my stash and decided to put it to good use.

I was actually really amazed at how much product I had left in the tube of Shadow Insurance. Bear in mind that a full size tube of Too Face Shadow Insurance is 11g/0.35oz and the pot of Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow holds 4.5g/0.16oz, I found myself having the primer filled to the brim in the pot. I’ve used the Shadow Insurance for close to 10 months now, and to see that there’s so much product left after 10 months usage, I could only say that I LOVE THIS PRIMER. It’s definitely not an expensive product in my opinion, seeing that a little of this goes a very long way.

“Depotting” the Shadow Insurance is definitely not a messy business. It is actually very liberating to squeeze every single drop of the product out. Now that it is “depotted” I feel like I have a brand new product to use( Doesn’t it look like a MAC paintpot, or in this case a Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow?)

This is definitely another way to recycle products that I finished. I always keep the containers of emptied product that I see useful(e.g, the pot of Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow). I am really happy with the way it looks now.

Products I finished (March 2012)

Hello! I am back for another round of products I finished. I mainly finished a lot of my skincare products this month. I know I keep saying this, but it is so liberating when I find myself finishing products.

First up, makeup.

1. Majorlica Majorca Automatic Eyeliner BK999

Its a really average eyeliner. The concept of twisting the bottom of the eyeliner so that it releases “ink” when you need it so that the eyeliner doesn’t dry up as quickly is good, but I just don’t love it. It gets messy sometimes when you over-turn the dial, and the “ink” just overflow and its just not a pretty sight. The eyeliner formula itself wasn’t one of the best as well. It actually peels right off my eyelid after 2 hours wear.

Do I love it?

No. Its pretty disappointing as Majorlica Majorca had really really good mascaras that would not budge for the whole day. Thus, I expected the same quality for their eyeliner. However, my expectations and the real product itself does not match up at all.

2. Shu Uemura UV underbase mousse SPF 30 PA+++ in Beige

My holygrail make up base. Its just so easy and light to apply. Just like what the name suggests, it comes out like a mousse when you pump it out. When you apply it, it just blends in really seamlessly, and after it dries, you can hardly feel it on your face. Furthermore, it provides SPF30 PA+++ which provides sufficient protection from the sun for everyday usage. I use it right after my moisturizer and the continue with my foundation or tinted moisturizer depending on my mood.

Do I love it?

Hell yeah! This is my 3rd finished bottle. I got this in a twin pack, so I still have one more in my back up. Definitely worth the money.

Next, perfumes. I never had been a perfume girl till these recent two years. I remember I used to hate it when my mom sprays her Chanel No.5 Perfume. The fragrance was just too pungent for my liking, and I still stand on this belief till now. I would say that my taste is still rather immature, just like my taste for wine ( I prefer white to red). Thus, most of the perfumes that I like are rather light and fruity.

3. Harajuku Lovers in BABY

I’ve got the 10ml and the 30ml bottles and I finished both bottles. I got these at my local price like when they were having a discount on them. To be honest, I’ve been eyeing on them for quite some time before taking the “plunge” of AUD19 for the 30ml version instead of buying them at AUD49. I just cannot justify paying AUD49 for a perfume that I know would have a discount sooner or later. Anyways, stopping the whole scrooge vinci talk, I should probably get on about how it smells. To be honest, what interested me in the perfume the first place was because it smells like Johnson and Johnson shampoo. I know I know, why buy a perfume when you can get the shampoo for even cheaper. Well, I guess I was just pretty intrigued with the idea of owning a perfume and smells like the shampoo.

Do I love it?

Yes I do. It is a refreshing and non-offensive fragrance to wear everyday. However, it might take me some time before I would consider purchasing it again as I have move on a found another fragrance that I like.

Next, my lotions. With winter coming up in Australia, I definitely feel a certain dryness around legs and hands. Thus, I’ve been using quite a bit of lotions lately.

4. Nougat London Nurturing Hand Cream in Fig & Pink Cedar

I got this in my March GlossyBox and liked it quite a bit. It smells really really nice and doesn’t leave an oily residue on the hands after applying it. I don’t really have much to say about this as its a really small sample.

Do I love it?

Its not bad. But I don’t think I would purchase the full size as I just have too much lotion stash to go through.

5. & 6. Vaseline Conditioning Lotion for Dry Skin

Its cheap. It does it job to condition the skin. Its AWESOME. Seriously.

Do I love it?

Yes yes yes! Go try it if you haven’t.

Next up, skincare.

7. Kosmea Daily Facial Exfoliant

I got this from the GlossyBox as well. it says on the description that it is a daily facial exfoliant. However, the product itself is just to rough for my sensitive. Me and this product will never work. I had never tried something that harsh on my skin before and it felt like rubbing rocks on my face. I resorted to using this on my elbows and knees instead, to exfoliate the dead skin around that area. However, to be honest, I don’t think the product worked at all for me.

Do I love it?

No. Its just too rough for my face. Never will I repurchase this.

8. Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

My definite holygrail. Its just sad that I only discovered this godsent product last year. It has done miracles to my acne and since owning this, I had promoted it to almost all of my friends and they loved it as well. It used to cost a lot more( think AUD40++) but the price has come down to AUD28.90 which is just music to my ears. I’m already onto my 3rd bottle of this miracle product and will definitely continue purchasing it. Its really easy to apply as well. Just continue with all my skincare routine and then apply this at the end. Dip a cotton bud in, take note not to shake the product, leave it as it is, separated. Then, apply on to affected acne areas and go to sleep. The spot would dry up the next day or two, and voila, skin is as good as it can be.

Do I love it?

Ofcourse. I actually feel insecure if I don’t have one with me. GO TRY IT.

9. SIMPLE Kind to Skin Moisturizing Facial Wash

Just like the brand suggests. Its a very simple facial wash. It leaves the skin feeling clean and it doesn’t strip off the skin’s moisture. I use this on times when I don’t have make up on. Its fragrance free so its really good for people who has sensitive skin as well.

Do I love it?

Well, its not bad. Would repurchase it.

10. Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

This is one of Laneige Star products. If you’re unfamiliar with korean skin care products, this sleeping pack mask from Laneige is one of their star products. Just like what the name suggests, you actually wear this mask to sleep. I use this as and when I felt like I need a boost of moisture for my skin and just sleep with it. I wake up the next day with really hydrated skin and my skin actually glows. Futhermore, at times when I am lazy to do the whole skincare routine. I would just slap this on and go to sleep with it.

11.Laneige Professional Makeup Remover Foaming Cleanser

I use this after removing my make up with my Shu Uemura Makeup Oil. It acts as a double cleanse process and my face feel really squeaky clean after that. Plus, this is a huge tube! It actually lasted my for more than a year. Now that this is finished, I am on a hunt of a new make up foaming cleanser.

Do I love it?

Yes. I probably would repurchase it if I see it around in Australia.

And…. that’s the end of products I finished in March.

Products I finished

Hello! Its been long since the last post. Its just that I’ve juggling summer school and work, there’s really no time for me to come up with a decent post. Nonetheless, I’ve been drafting up a lot of “potential” posts so do keep a lookout on that.

Today, I’m going to show you the products that I’ve finished over the past…..say, year? To be honest, it isn’t really difficult for me to finish something, as I always only have one or two of the products opened that does the same thing. Etc, 2 concealers(1 for undereye, 1 for blemishes), 2 mascaras (1 for volume, 1 for length), 2 liquid face products(1 tinted moisturizer, 1 foundation). However I do have more lipsticks that are opened, though I do try to keep it in a certain amount as well, so I have a fun colour, a neutral colour, a staple red and a tinted lip balm.  Because this limit that I put upon myself, I am always able to finish my products within the certain time frame.

However, I do admit that I “kinda” have a problem because I always buy products to stock up. I have probably 5 lipsticks that are yet to be opened. I have a dupe(MAC Naked Lunch) for SIN in the NAKED PALETTE way before the colour hit pan and the list goes on.

Please pardon the low quality ipod touch edited photos.

First up, mascaras.

1. Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara

I got this because SO many people were raving about how good this mascara is. Naturally I had pretty high hopes for it. However, the first time I tried it, I hated it so much! Its so dry, and I was really used to the huge applicator, when I put it on, I feel like it does do anything to my lashes. AND, it smelled really bad. I was really disappointed.

My opinion of this mascara changed completely when I brought this along for an overseas trip. I was getting more comfortable with the huge applicator and found that with correct application, it does lengthen and gives volume to the lashes without being clumpy at all.

However, this mascara does smudge on me even though I got the waterproof version. So its best for oily lids steer away from it.

Do I love it?

Its good, but I’m quite sceptical about it smudging.

2. Majorlica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus

This is one of the best mascaras that I had tried in ages. Its so waterproof that it does requires a couple more rubs with my Shu Uemura Cleasing Oil to get every bit of mascara out. But, I really don’t mind it at all. No smudging for the day is good enough for me. When I do put more coats of mascaras on, my lashes actually looks like I had falsies on because of the fibers in the mascara.

Do I love it?

LOVE IT! Definitely would purchase again when I get the chance.

3. Maybelline Volume Express Feline Mascara (Limited Edition, Hello Kitty)

This was an Asia Exclusive version I believe. To be honest I got this mascara on an impulse. Come on, look at the kitty! Its so adorable. The formula itself not too bad as well. This mascara has a wet formula which I don’t mind as well, however it does smudge on my eyes after 4-5hours, so there’s always a “risk” involved. This mascara does makes my lashes go from mediocre to long. Definitely not a va-va-boom “kinda” lashes, but its okay for like normal day out etc.

Do I love it?

I feel rather indifferent about this mascara, the packaging definitely a plus point. Other than that, I feel like the performance of the mascara is pretty decent.

Next up, Concealers.

Confessions of a Concealerholic by Benefit

This was a concealer palette that I got as a present for my 20th birthday. It was pretty symbolic between me and my friend because I was reading the whole series of Confessions of a Shopaholic during that point of time. So, my friend thought it was pretty cool how the  words play out ; “concealerholic vs shopaholic”.

This palette consists to 2 shades of Boi-ing( for blemishes), lemon-aid(reduce puffiness and dullness over the eyelid), eye bright(brighten up the corner of the eyes), Erase paste( for under-eye concealing). The palette also include 2 brushes for application purposes and a mirror. First and foremost, the packaging is adorable! It opens like a book, and on one side you get a huge mirror and on it writes, “this diary belongs to:” -> show your face in the mirror, ta-dah its you! LAME. But really, the packaging is ADORABLE!

On to the actual products itself, it definitely is good concealer palette to start out with for beginners because you are able to have a dab and know what you actually liked.

1. Erase paste: I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it as well. Its too creamy for my taste, and I feel like the cakes up and settles into fine lines. Its not that noticeable but still…. I’m not exactly fond it as well.

2. Boi-ing: A lot of people describe this as a industrial concealer, meaning make up artist actually use it for like stage make up or typically a concealer that make up artist actually use. However I don’t really find that it covers my blemishes that well.

3. Lemon-aid: This is probably the only thing that I love from this palette. I love it so much that this was the first product that hit pan in the palette and I got a full size thereafter. It definitely helps to cover the dullness on your eyelids and somehow, while I’m applying this product over my eyelid, it actually helps in depuffing the eye. A lot of people didn’t like lemon-aid because they treat it as a primer, but it is not. It is a concealer for your eyelid. Normally, what I do is, put on Lemon-aid and then dab my TooFaced Shadow Insurance over it before applying my eyeshadow.

4. EyeBright : My least favourite in the whole palette. It doesn’t really do anything to my eyes. I just don’t see a difference or a need to apply it at all.

Do I love it?

Well, I definitely recommend this for people who are just starting out with make up, or people who just want to get to know the benefit concealer products a little better. If you’re looking for a “industrial-strength” concealer, I definitely would go for the MAC Studio Finish Concealer, do not waste your time trying the boi-ing concealer.

Face products.

1.Dior Skin Nude Foundation Shade 020

My favourite foundation to date. I like it so much that I already on to my second bottle. It gives such a nice coverage and such a nice finish that I always get complements when I use this foundation. I don’t have really good skin to start off with, but whenever I put this foundation on, my friends always complement and say that my skin has improved quite a bit. It doesn’t make your face cakey at all and it gives a really natural finish glow to the skin. It is definitely not a mattifying foundation and I really like the dewy finish it provides.

I like to use my fingers for this, because I find that with brushes, the finishing result just isn’t as pretty. The name “Nude” might put some people who are looking for coverage off, because you would think that it is a lighter coverage foundation. But its not. I would say it gives a medium coverage.

Do I love it?

2. You Rebel Lite by Benefit

My first tinted moisturizer. There’s really nothing much I could say about this, because. Straight-up, I don’t really like it. I know a tinted moisturizer is suppose to be moisturizing, but what I get from this tinted moisturizer is OILY. It is so oily that I always feel like just putting powder right on my face after I have it on. Despite being tinted, it doesn’t much coverage, which is understandable. The plus point, it does evens out the complexion but that’s that. The staying power is around 1.5 hours, which is REALLY short. Then again, it is a tinted moisturizer.

Do I love it?

Paul & Joe loose powder ( Shade no. 1)

This loose powder is not bad. It mattifies and set the foundation for a decent amount of time( 5 hours). I got this loose powder at a discounted price of 20 SGD dollars if my memory does not fail me, which is a steal. I don’t have any complains for it but I don’t rave about this as well.

Do I love it?

Its decent. But I wouldn’t get it again.

Skin Care

1. Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion & Mario Badescu Buttermilk Moisturizer

By far my favourite toner and moisturizer combination. My skin was pretty bad a few months ago, and I realised I was using a wrong skincare line that does not suit my skin once I switched from that to Mario Badescu. From then on, I can never leave this awesome awesome brand anymore. Mario Badescu caters to acne-prone skin and unfortunately, I fall under this category. Ever since I was using the whole range, my skin cleared up almost instantly. The texture for both the product is really light, and I always feel very fresh everytime I used these two products. I use them day and night after I washed my face and that’s pretty much it for my whole skincare routine.

Do I love it?

Hell yeah!

Kate Gel Eyeliner in BK01. My very first gel liner. I got this when I was in Hong Kong and it lasted me two whole years. One of my proudest moment is looking at the photo below. CHECK THAT OUT!

I literally scrape through the whole pot and finished everything inside. Its that good. It is an asian drugstore brand. But its good. Definitely not as creamy as compared to the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner, but IT’S GOOD. It does smudge a little bit, but that’s no biggie, staying power is decent( say 6 hours). Despite having it for 2 years, the gel liner did not dry up at all. Which is amazing considering that I heard mac gel liner dry up like really fast.

Do I love it?

Yes. But will I repurchase it? I don’t think so. As long as I have my Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Liner, I stay a happy girl. For people who are looking for a decent dupe that is quite comparable to the Bobbi Brown one, I definitely would recommend trying out the Kate gel liner. It is harder to get outside of Asia, but it is worth it.

I was pretty hesitant to put this up but I’ve recently finished 3 bottles of deodorant which I find pretty darn amazing. I won’t go in-depth with this though as deodorant other than their fragrance, there’s really nothing much to them.

Lip Products

1.Maybelline Baby Lips in Energizing Orange

I’ve raved about it before in my November Favourites. So I won’t elaborate much on it. It does a good job moisturizing the lips and it smells really good.

Do I love it?

2. Majorlica Majorca Lipgloss in BE205

I’m not a big lipgloss fan. Its a decent nude lipgloss. But, I just find lipgloss a tad too sticky on the lips. That’s just my thing, The colour payoff for this lipgloss is rather sheer. But it does gives a pretty sheen to the lips when worn.

Do I love it?

Not a big lipgloss fan. So, I don’t think I would purchase it again.

3. MAC Lipstick in Politely Pink

My very first MAC lipstick and I love it to bits. I remember going to different outlets asking for this shade because it somehow was out of stock for some reason despite it being in the permanent collection. This lipstick just carries so many memories. It gives a really nice colour to the lips. Its a nude colour with a tinge of frost in it.

Do I love it?

Yes yes yes!

4. Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake.

You probably won’t believe me. But I did finished this lipstick in less than a month’s time. Its crazyyy! But it is such a pretty shade of pink that is sooooo wearable. I get complements from my girlfriends everytime I wore this out with them. In fact, I even influenced them to get it as well. It is a pity that the lip butters has not reached Australia’s shore yet. I got mine when I went to Asia. Thankfully I have a back up of this, so I don’t feel so sad about finishing the tube of lipbutter. If you haven’t tried one of these lip butters, I really do urge you to do so. They are so creamy, so moisturizing and best of all, it doesn’t dry up your lips. A lot of people say that the colours are sheer, but I beg to differ. I find that the colour payoff is pretty decent, at least for Strawberry Shortcake.

Do I love it?

Hell yeah!

November GlossyBox (AUSTRALIA VERSION)

Hello! This post would be about the new revamped GlossyBox, formerly known as BeautyBox. I’ve been on subscription with BeautyBox now turn GlossyBox from the beginning so I kinda have a rough idea of what I like and what I don’t like about the products that were sent.

This box was pretty exciting for me because this is the first box that came in after the whole brand had major shift. So I thought I would do a review on it.

This is the actual box that contains all the goodies. The box is relatively larger than the original BeautyBox. But I quite like the new packaging because it looks really classy and there is more depth to the box so you can keep more things. Double yayee! I keep my backups in these boxes if you’re really interested to know.

So, when you open up the box, you see it tied nicely in a box with tissue papers and the GlossyBox sticker. Again, really classy.

You also get a card that thank you for subscribing to the GlossyBox and a brief description of the products that are inside.

And the moment you guys have been waiting for.

I was actually pretty excited when I see that I got a “full-size” of Bio-oil. By full size I mean, 60 ml which retails at $14.95 which is how much the GlossyBox cost. Plus, my friends has been telling me how it really does work on lightening scars, stretchmarks, uneven skin tone etc. I have quite a significant amount of scars due to bug bites and mainly just me being very careless and falling down everywhere I go, so this is a good product to just try it out.

This came at a right time. If it was me 1 year ago, I would not have cared for anti-ageing serum and what not. Being 21 now, I start see that my skin isn’t as firm as before. Especially the skin just below my cheeks and beside my mouth. So, I’ve have been in a lookout for a lifting cream that might be able to combat my “21 year old ageing skin” . Anti-ageing doesn’t start when you’re old. In fact its too late to start at that time.

This. I like! I am big fan of summery colours. Heck! I even wear summery pastel nail polishes in winter. Thus, this is a really good addition to my very modest nail polish collection. But truth to be told, I would pretty much enjoy it in a different colour. I see other people getting beautiful shade of orange and I’m actually pretty envious. BUT BUT BUT, this is better than nothing.

I have mixed feelings for this product. It is good to have a Bobbi Brown product included in the box. However, I would rather they come out with eyeshadows or blushers or just anything from their make up line, instead of another cleansing oil(The first BeautyBox came with a cleaning oil from Shu Uemura). Then again, its mini, so you can take it when you travel.

I like it. Its full size, its a beautiful shade. I don’t know much about the brand, so this is a really good way to get to a know a new brand out there. Its a really nice texture, not sticky AT ALL. This is coming from someone who doesn’t like gloss. I am more of a lipstick person than a gloss one.

Along with the products, they also included a Jurlique 15% off storewide voucher and a free Gel Liner from Mirenesse if you go to their Facebook account(exclusive for people who ordered the November GlossyBox). A downside of the Jurlique voucher is that the voucher expired even before I got the box. I’ve checked with the people from GlossyBox and they are trying to see what they can do about it, so we’ll see.

Overall, I am quite happy with this box. It is their first box, so I’m sure they are trying to make it impressive so that it would attract more crowd. Keeping that in mind, I will continue my subscription with them as for now.

Can’t wait for the Christmas Box to come.
